One Health

The One Health Office facilitates and coordinates program activities that seek to attain optimal health for people and animals by promoting global collaboration between human and veterinary medicine while engaging the principles of public health and ecosystem health.

Greater progress in prevention and control of infectious diseases requires a more directed effort focusing on the complex interplay between human health, the health of animals, and the environment.

Therefore, the Office focuses on activities that promote an integrated approach to public health, reflecting the interconnectedness of a larger ecological system. To achieve this, the Office builds partnerships and promotes trust-based relationships among multiple sectors and disciplines, internal and external to CDC, to more precisely address this convergence of human and animal health.
