The World Bank and its partners are pleased to offer a series of inter-regional knowledge and learning seminars on Avian and Human Influenza (AHI)-related topics through the Global Development Learning Network (GDLN).

In this March 19 seminar, led by specialists from FAO, OIE and the World Bank, participants will discuss some of the challenges of designing and implementing an Avian Influenza vaccination campaign in the context of an overall AHI control program, specifically: the type of vaccine to use; monitoring of vaccination and virus circulation; efficacy and observed constraints and weaknesses; challenges to implementation; how to design an exit strategy, and; alternative control measures in countries that do not vaccinate. Country perspectives will be presented by participant countries who are currently facing the practical challenges of implementing a vaccination strategy.
